May News At Anthony John Salons In Lichfield

Hi everyone! Firstly, it’s great to be able to write to you about the latest salon news without Covid being the main subject! Long may that continue. This year has flown by so far. It’s now nearly two months at the time of writing since we started to tentatively move away from some of the restrictions we’d had in place for 2 years due to Covid. It’s great to get that certain buzz back in the building whilst still keeping your safety a priority. I can tell from the many comments made to me and the team that we have got the balance just right. Please remember that you can still wear a mask when coming to see us and our staff will do the same, this is no problem whatsoever, we want all of our clients to simply feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible. 

The next step on the road to normality for us is to re introduce our balcony room. For those who don’t know, this is a communal space for clients to relax when their colour is developing. We are hoping to open this back up in the next couple of months and we can’t wait to show and share with you this space that’s totally about your enjoyment and relaxation. 

So, What's Been Happening At The Salon?

In salon we have been so busy with a number of things. We have seen hundreds and hundreds of new clients, huge big AJS welcome to you all and so far this year have seen nearly 3000 of our loyal devotees. Those numbers sometimes blow my mind when I look back to 11 years ago when we started with a team of 3! 

We have had a couple of new starters in the team, Alix and Max, who are two new apprentices, so please say hello when you see them. We are also busy recruiting for FOH (so far had over 40 applicants!) and are also, as always, on the lookout for passionate stylists. Education, Education, Education!

On top of all this, we’re busy training up our next superstars - our apprentice team - 5 of which will be ready to do their thing on the shop floor by the end of this year! They’re doing us proud in their training and it’s the most fulfilling part of my job seeing them grow in every way. We are always on the look out for models for their training sessions on a Monday, please ring the salon for more details. 

It’s not just apprentices either… the stylists have already this year been on external courses, custom training days with myself, had demo whole training days  in salon and have had LOréal educators visit us at AJS HQ. Education, training people and growing people is what we do and that will never stop! 

Photoshoots & British Hairdressing Awards

We have also had two photoshoots. First one for our L'Oreal Colour entries for which we were regional finalists for. Huge well done to Troy and Amelia for their beautiful work on this. The second was a biggy, for the British Hairdressing Awards. I realise that for most clients this won’t mean much but for fellow hairdressers it will. In a nutshell it’s the biggest creative award in the industry, you create a collection of 8 images which then get judged. The collection will be sent off in late June, once it’s been judged we can then share it with you if we get shortlisted BUT even if not, I couldn’t be more proud of what we have created. Huge thank you to Troy for heading this up with me and the rest of the team who assisted.
